I recommend AthensCars - they are really the best and the cheapest if you consider all the services included in the rental price. It's not only a car, but also a full insurance and no credit card is needed (no deposit). Their cars are not the newest on the island but definitely very reliable and enough to move from one place to another. Cooperation with them is really seamless.

In April 2016, I visited Crete for the first time. Several friends recommended this car rental company and I am glad I followed their advice. Checking the prices online was easy and I liked that no deposit was required. The price was excellent, much cheaper than other well-known international firms, and it included full insurance with free mileage. Our flight arrived at Heraklion Airport with a 3 hours delay, but the representative of the car rental company was waiting for us patiently. The car was in perfect mechanical condition despite a few bumps and scratches, almost new tires (important, since we had two days of rain). We drove 1700 km all over Crete without any problems at all. In short, really good service and excellent value for price paid!

The personal, on time, attentive and friendly service was in sharp contrast to the filthy junker that was delivered. At first, a clean, small car was delivered to our hotel on time. But, it wasn't the car we reserved - it was important to us to get a larger, more powerful car. So, the good news was that a second, more powerful car was delivered on time. The bad news was that the second car was disgustingly filthy and such a junker that the front bumper was held on with zip ties. We had to buy cleaning supplies and spend a solid hour cleaning the all stained and sticky surfaces of the car. It seemed that this car hadn't been cleaned in years. There was such a stench of cigarette smoke and ashes that we had to clean all the floor mats and spray the seats multiple times with air freshener. There was rotting fruit under the front seats that fortunately we discovered before attracting flies. The upside was that the car had a nice stereo and it got us where we wanted to go. But, would definitely rent front a different company next time.

this review is for today.They have a large selection of cars and they are very helpful. I was able to find a car that fit my needs and I was able to drive off with it in no time at all. The prices are reasonable and they offer great customer service.

The car was in good condition and the rates were reasonable. I had a great time exploring the island and had no problems whatsoever. It was very convenient to rent a car for my stay in Crete.

I have been using them for 9 years already and they have consistently offered the lowest prices in the market, considering all insurances. Others show you lower prices but then overcharge you when you add insurance. Their all-inclusive prices have always been the best and they include unlimited mileage. Free delivery at Heraklion airport is a plus.

Excellent Car hire agency! from the beginning we wrote We would like ot have a car to visit places throughout the island - and on the way home -- we depart on the evening of the 8th March -we would like to spend the day in Heraklion -- visiting sites. WE would like a car that can handle rough roads but that is not too expensive. We finally hired a Mini Car Peugeot 108 which drove perfect all around Cretan roads. Well done www.athenscars.gr team
