Rented a Suzuki Baleno for 7 days, paid 118 euro. Everything was fine. Quick pickup and delivery. You must know the difference between a credit card and a debit card. You must have a credit card. They put a 1000 euro hold on the credit card and release it when you return the car. They cannot put a hold on a debit card, so you will pay more with a debit card. You should also inspect the car very carefully on pickup and mark all damages together with the clerk.

What a disgrace - we have arrived to collect our car that we have paid for already and hired for a week and they have given it away! We were delayed a bit, but they didn’t even call us to check. They were very unhelpful and didn’t even try to help find another solution. What a way to welcome tourists!?

Rented from here when recently flying to chania. It’s a convenient 2-3 min walk from the terminal. Staff were waiting, car was ready outside and everything went smoothly. The car we got was not great, had no AC, several bumps and scratches already (which were all carefully noted by the staff), and almost no power, but you get what you pay for. Carwiz’s price was extremely affordable and much cheaper than the competition which was directly on the terminal. When I returned the car they offered to drive us to the terminal which was a very kind touch. Blocked money on my card was released within 24-48 hours upon returning. Recommend this place a lot :)

We recently rented a car from Carwiz at Chania airport. We booked in advance as the price was competitive. The first issue we had was that the office is advertised as 'in terminal'. It isn't, it is quiter close by but isn't the easiest place to get your luggage to. A further issue was that our flight was delayed and so we were charged 100 euros before we could collect the car (as the office is supposed to close at 10pm and we didnt make it to the office until a couple of minutes past midnight). The car was in really poor condition with scratches all over it, although they did not make any false claims that we had damaged the car on return, as others have claimed. The tyres were also heavily worn and the car was dirty inside. Finally, it was adverised as a full to full fuel policy. When we collected the car it was only half full. They said to return it half full, which we did, but it is a pain trying to get the levels right in the petrol station before dropping the car off. I wouldn't rush to use them again.

Watch out for insurance add-ons or hefty payments (starting at €300) for even the smallest mark on the car. It is obvious they use low rates to attract customers but make their money through insurance and exaggerated repairs. I would not trust them with my business again.

Hi as car rental companies go, its a stressful operation overall but the people who took care of me in Chania and Heraklion were super sweet and efficient and they made me happy to have chosen them. One thing, when. you take insurance, make sure. you are doing it with the car rental company if you don't want to be responsible for things and then submit to a different company later.

I had booked an economy/Fiat Panda with Carwiz at Chania Airport as it was one of the cheaper providers. I was concerned with the many negative reviews I had read however was surprised with how smoothly my pickup and drop-off of the vehicle went. My flight had been delayed so unfortunately I had to pay 100 Euro extra to keep the car until 1:30 am, I am hoping to claim this back through travel insurance. The car hire company did upgrade me to a newer VW Polo for free, this was a nice gesture however I am sure the "free" upgrade was cancelled out by the extra 100 Euro they received from me. Overall in regards to how most overseas car hire companies operate my experience was good and I incurred no additional costs. I was also not pressured into taking out additional insurance. With any of these companies just be wary... you must make the booking with your credit card and have it with you upon collection. As long as you take good care of the vehicle and return it full you won't receive any additional charges. Make sure you have a credit card limit exceeding 1500 Euro because they will hold this against the card if you take out insurance with another provider. This will be released about 7 days after the booking. If they take money from the deposit for vehicle damage then as long as you have taken out insurance with another provider you can claim off them and they will refund you the amount. The only issue I had was the late collection fee which was the airlines fault so make sure to take out travel insurance which covers these mishaps. If you are looking for a budget rental company I would have no problem recommending this provider and will likely book them again if their prices remain low.
