R	Rachel Chen on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was expecting chaos and delay at this airport after reading so many negative reviews. Surprisingly things went so smooth that it only took about 10 minutes to go through check-in and security check. There was no lineup at Aegean Airline counter as well as security. Luckily we also got seats to relax at our gate. Flying out Thursday morning seems to be a smart choice!

I've never seen an airport within the EU that was this crowded, this chaotic and this poorly equipped. Endless queues, fragmented information, completely stressed out staff, no ventilation, no walking routes (as if there's never been a pandemic at all). The stores are way below standard and one would think that handling 8 million passengers a year allows for the purchase of toilet paper, functional toilet seats and a decent intercom, but no. This airport is a bit of a disgrace to the otherwise pretty island of Crete.
j	joerg leismueller on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 1.144 / 5.000 Bad Security: Unfortunately we had on flight A3432 (23rd April 2022) to Munich a sad and disappointing incident. We were traveling as families and the childrend had footballs in their hand luggage. We declared these footballs when we checked in and the children took them easily to the plane within their hand luggage. When boarding, 1 child was then stopped and denied access with football. We should deflate the football with it with a pointed object. Then we could take the football into the plane, the lady on the boading desk told us. But how can we have a sharp/pointed object behind the security? The colleague at boarding line was not very cooperative. After all we left the ball behind and the boy had tears in his eyes the whole flight. The following questions arise: - How is it possible that the foodballs are confirmed by an employee at check-in as unproblematic and checked in for the cabin? See checked badge PIC. - How can it be, that all balls get through security without any problems? - How is it possible, that 1 ball during boarding is stopprd by the a boarding team lady and the child in the line next to it can pass? On the inward flight from Munich, all the balls were completely unproblematic. Also for other families. Obviously bad security coordination and malevolent staff.
I	INSIDE EUROPE Travel Experiences on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent and plenty of coffee ☕️ options as well as efficient standard services, BUT poor poor AC and not enough seating area especially given the current situation when distancing is recommended. Upstairs is a bit cooler surprisingly. Lounges are still closed. Extensive duty free shopping with lots of local products.
M	Michał Rączkiewicz on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolute chaos happening from the parking lot all the way through the terminal to the tarmac. Check-in area is insanely crowded and so is post-security. Speaking of security, this and the duty free shop probably are the only functioning parts of the airport. Gate agent at my flight changed destination on the screens mid-boarding which caused mild panic across passengers - because of massive delays they thought they missed their flight. This airport is simply too small to accommodate summer traffic.
M	Marijn van der Meer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very crowded and small airport. Has had it’s best time. Behind security the usual duty free products including a wall full of cigarets. (way to go!?) Not many places to have something to eat or drink. Your typical ‘get in, and fly away’ kind of airport. Our taxi driving told us they are currently building a new airport in the middle of the island. Said to be done in 2024.

o	okenemem on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience with this airport. It was quite busy and outside was also busy . Quick processing and lots of seats available. The airport are very caring and will even announce passengers missing from their flight on the tannoy system to try and alert them that the flight is leaving . Which is really nice .
