★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great archeological site, but with no direct access. Abandoned some time ago, but still nice to see

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shame is not open for public but worth to look through the fence anyway. Nice free walk .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some of the most impressive Roman ruins i've ever seen. At the same time you feel sad for the missed oportunity. There are no excavations, no signs or no interest in these world heritage worth ruins.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The archaeological site itself is quite nice, however, it is all fenced and it's pretty hard to view and understand what is in there. Not to mention the almost absolute lack of signs or any explanation about the site itself. The path around is, of course, gravel, so come prepared.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Who likes the antique history it is great to find it. Although you are not alowed to walk in to the place. There is a fence. It is not far from the road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited the place on our way to the south of the island and was a very good visit. You can park in the visitors center in the main road and walk 10min to the Temple of Apollo. Don't expect any literature or description, very simple signs tell you what to visit so I would recommend to bring a guide or download one of the Crete apps to read a little bit what you are seeing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a region where an ancient Roman city once stood. The remains have not been fully uncovered, there is a region where you can stroll around free of charge and one where you can see more structural details but being charged. Still worth going if you are close, suppose a 30min drive is reasonable. My pictures are all from the freely accessible area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I loved this site, but it's not for everyone.
There is but a few signs, and no explanatory plaques or monuments. Recommend reading about the site before attending so that you know what you're exploring.
It is a sprawling site amongst the olive trees and farm plots. Such unassuming landscape hiding such rich treasures beneath. It is fascinating to see the site in progress and it gets your imagination going as to what other incredible things may be resting just below your feet.
It is not easily accessible, even by car. Be careful on the turnoff road, as you could easily damage your rental. There is no clear walkway around the site, and bring sturdy shoes. Expect mud if it has recently rained. Bring your imagination and your sunscreen!
