★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tranquility without isolation. Walked the Gorge and gladly fell upon this place. I just knew instinctively that I would come back here on my second visit to Crete and stay for a couple of nights, it had a magical feel about the place. This visit was just for refreshments only, after my walk. I had a coffee and a snack outside in the front of building, listening to the birds in total clarity. Clean and pleasant eating area and good honest prices...

Simple, yet beautiful rooms; quiet location close to the trail but just on the outskirts of the village itself; delicious food with some amazing and salads you will find on offer only there; informative and kind hospitality make this place a haven whether you are hiking Samaria or just enjoying the beach and sea.
Highly recommended!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We enjoyed our stay. The room was quiet, clean, and had a nice view of the sea, all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend staying in Agia Roumeli and beginning a hike up the Samaria Gorge early in the morning to beat the crowds. Also, the small restaurant run by this hotel was quite tasty, although we only tried the salads, but they were very good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Top!!!always impeccable...the food is so tasty and the owners are so friendly, I had there the best stifado, tsigariasto and the Draco as well delicious..also a special mention goes to the variety of salads, as well very tasty and vegetarian friendly! Love it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The owner is the kindest you'll ever meet and he can give great hiking advice. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have lovely furnishing. A true oasis!!! The room just cost 40€ for the three of us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of our favorite hotels from our stay in Crete. It is between the mountains and the sea, in a quiet spot, very connected to nature. We could hear goats and roosters and eat figs from the garden. The staff were lovely and the rooms are spacious and uniquely decorated with local wood. We would like to stay more next time. Definitely recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed a few times at Pachnes hotel. Stelios is a great host, rooms are VERY confortable and quiet, food is excellent. Hotel well located, just as a great start to many walks in surrounding mountains and of course, Samaria's gorges.
