We are renting a car with Avis EVERY week and never ever experienced such a bad service. We are still speechless about the incompetent and unprofessional behavior. The car itself has seen better days, first thing we had was a flat tire. Returning the car, unfortunately the same bad service. We were forced to pay for the tire, although we had an insurance. During the time we were on the phone with the insurance service the lady on-site already closed the contract without informing us and charged the amount to the credit card. Discussions got loud quickly and we were told that they don’t care, if we are not happy with the service we should write a review. That’s what we are doing right now. There are a lot of other local car rentals next to the Avis counter, can’t speak for their service but would definitely give them a shot, even if I am a presidents club member at Avis!

People with NATO license BEWARE! They do not accept NATO driver's license. When trying to to verify why not, the customer service became extremely rude in their behavior.

I have been a customer of AVIS for quite some time, and this was by far the worst experience I had. The reasons: 1. I booked through my company discount which the lady at the office tried to cancel, and charge me 3x the booked amount. I had to send her (not show her, but send!) my salary certificate (!!!) because she needed proof of work. No one has asked for this before including the Athens airport AVIS branch. And they did not notify us about this. 2. The lady at the office was rude to us saying things like "you can go elsewhere, you won't find any other car to rent" (it was 15.August). 3. At the return car check, they tried to charge me a damage that I had not caused, THANK GOD I had taken a photo at the hand-out. 4. They charged me for many more miles than what I had actually travelled (like 500 or so more). I strongly believe that experiences like this can ruin someone's holidays let alone the reputation of AVIS. I am submitting this comment so that you guys can improve and not see your customers as wallets. The two stars are because the car had no problems. My Nephew rented a car for 4 days at a cost of 1000 euro. He returned the car to Chania Airport at 12.30 in the afternoon on the 22/08/2021. I have thereforw lost all trust in Avis. As he landed back in the UK 4 hours later he contacted the Avis office at Chania Airport and advised them that he had left his wallet on the dash board, with all his credit cards a large sum of cash and his driving licence, he also contacted me as I live on Crete, I spoke to a gentleman at the Avis desk you advised me that they had not had time to check the car but would call me back . When he did call back he advised that he had checked the car and did not find any wallet, he also mentioned that the staff who had already cleaned the car had not found the wallet. I find thos unacceptable as my nephew was 100% sure where he had left his wallet. I have made a Police report on his behalf and will also be contCting Avis Head Office.

Giving this 2 star despite it being easy to collect the car and the lady behind the counter being friendly, they tried to charge me for damage to the boot. I was told when I collected the car it has only done 2k so I don't need to check the car, lucky I did as there was damage to the boot. I got this noted and luckily I always take pictures to cover myself from any future issues. As my flight was early hours of the morning I put the keys in their drop box. The next day I get a call about damage, very lucky I kept my receipt and photos as they tried to charge me for damage. Don't know how they don't have their own copy of the receipt. So beware and take pictures and inspect the car otherwise they will charge £160 for this tiny dent. I am still waiting to receive my refund on my card.... wouldn't use again out of principle.

Everything went ok. The drop of was mostly straightforward. Had to visit the desk - it would be an improvement if everything would be sorted at the drop off point. Not big issue. Friendly service.

I usually visit on Monday morning to get a car for business purposes. There is always a long wait, which is a problem when you have work to do. Last time I had to wait for over than half an hour. They should have more employees when they expect lots of clients. Other than that, all good.

Note that car return is done at the parking lot in front of the arrivals gate. Refer to the pictures attached for reference as the return location is not very obvious.
